"
"BNC has introduced me to so many new activities whether it be hiking trails I never knew existed in the Burlington area, walking through fields of wild flowers and trailing through woods on a carpet of Autumn leaves…..
Playing cards, Euchre a game I had never even heard of. Tasting new wines, or reading a book I probably would never have thought about picking up. Line dancing, so much fun. And of course the get togethers for good food and camaraderie.Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart to all of you…"

Activity Groups
Activities are a great way to get together with a smaller group and take part in something you enjoy doing or, maybe, to learn something new. All of BNC’s activities are organized by volunteer convenors. We wouldn’t be the great club we are without them! Following are summaries of some of the activities we offer. Most Activities do not take place in July and August. For more information, please see our activities list. Perhaps you really enjoy an activity that isn’t in our list. We welcome our members to convene new activities. Please contact our Activities Coordinator, to make arrangements.
Dining & Socials
There are several opportunities to join with others at restaurants and pubs for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. You can also take part in pot luck offerings at members’ homes. Wine tasting and movies are other social activities.
Book Clubs
For those who are avid readers, BNC has several book clubs. Choose the day and time that suits you best. If you are a homebody, there is even one that meets via Zoom!
Games and Cards
Are you a trivia expert? Maybe dominoes is your thing. Are you an experienced euchre player or have never played but want to learn? We have activities for you! We also have groups playing canasta, Mah Jong, Rumoli, and Scrabble.
Staying Active
Being active is an important part of staying healthy, and it is always more fun with friends. You can choose from hiking, golf or line dancing. All of these activities welcome beginners as well as those with more experience.
Miscellaneous
The Round Table group brings people together to chat, discuss, and debate topics of interest and importance. The Conversational French groups is for those who are comfortable with the language and want to stay that way. DayTrippers organizes bus trips a few times a year to take members out of Burlington and broaden our horizons. We could go to a museum in Toronto or a play in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Possibilities are endless.

About Us
The Burlington Newcomers Club (BNC) was started in 1967 as a way to help women who were new to Burlington make friends and get to know their community. In that first year, there were 20 members. Many of our original members are still part of the Club.Since the beginning, we have grown to about 230 members.BNC is overseen by a Board of Directors who are elected by the members each year. Board members are all volunteers who work co-operatively to ensure that Club members can participate in fun and interesting activities. In addition to the Board, BNC relies on our volunteer convenors who organize the activities. Volunteers are the heart of BNC! All members are asked to consider helping out in a way that suits their skill sets and promotes the goals of the Club.We are an open and welcoming group of women who enjoy laughter, learning and friendship. We would love to have you join us!Want to know how you could get involved? Please read about our Activities and Events.
